Chapter – 74 – The legend
of Lord Krishna – The legend of King Pareekshith
Vidura Maithreya Samvadham
Maharishi Maitreya speaks “Oh!
Vidura, the supreme Lord who is the creator of the Universe and its living beings
of diversified nature, expanded all those creatures that are already merged in him, all
those creatures are different from each other, therefore it is impossible to
compare them with one another. Oh! Vidura,
all those creatures are beyond comparison so it is meaningless to take pride in
the possessions or lament over the absence of all those material matters or
bondages, without realizing the presence of the supreme soul in it. Oh! Vidura, the knowledge of ‘self’ can be
achieved with the practice of meditation and association with the ascetics and
saintly people, it helps to get rid of redundant thoughts; it removes the
attachments on worldly matters and bondage, which has destructible nature and
focus the mind on the supreme Lord who is eternal.
The human mind and intellect has immense potential to elevate the soul
from the destructible Prakrithi to the indestructible Purusha. Oh! Vidura, the extreme
adversities in life caused due to the presence of the destructible nature of
Prakrithi to make the Jeeva stronger than before, with the practice of
meditation and contemplation the Jeeva make an effort to come out of it, even
it may fall out of the austerities it would regain the consciousness/intellect
to bring back into the righteous path. Oh! Vidura, the presence of the supreme soul
in us is the source of the functioning of Gnana Karmaindhriyas, mind and intellect,
therefore whoever contemplates upon that supreme soul who is eternal and
changeless remain serene always.”
Maharishi Maitreya
continues “Oh! Vidura, all those functions in this Universe and its living beings
are based on ‘Time’, the slightest particles of Paramanu keep traveling due to
the influence of ‘Time’, therefore it is addressed as ‘Kalachakram’, the
supreme Lord who is beyond ‘time’ is the cause for the movement of this ‘Kalachakram’. Due to the constant influence of this ‘Kalachakra’
the human body undergoes transformation and ruin; therefore overindulgence on
the perishable nature body causes grief in Jeeva. The human body has to undergo aging,
illnesses and death, hence, the Rishis and Sages strongly recommended the
practice of mind and intellect from the destructible nature of the
Prakrithi/body, wealth, richness, fame, people, etc. to the indestructible supreme
Lord. Oh! Vidura, The practice of mind
and intellect that has already wedged in the material world and bondage, to
the supreme soul is known as ‘Sadhana’/meditation; in this way, Jeeva can elevate
their soul into a state of bliss.”
