Chapter – 153 – The legend of Lord Krishna – 7

Once, Maharishi Narada visited the Palace of Kamsa and praised him, further asked him about the divine voice that threatened him during the wedding ceremony of Devi Devaki.  Kamsa was not taken the things seriously, replied to Maharishi Narada that he is not at all worried about the children born to Devi Devaki, he has a threat from the eighth child of Devi Devaki, so he is anxiously waiting for her eighth child.   Therefore, the number eight was the most hated in Kamsa’s life, Maharishi Narada said “ Oh! Kamsa, you are an ignorant one, I have visited here for the benefit of you, Devi Devaki and Vasudeva are deities, you were Kalanemi in your previous birth, you have destined to die in the hands of Lord Hari, therefore the supreme Lord Hari is going to incarnate as eighth child of Devi Devaki.  So be careful, you really do not know how it would be counted as ‘eight’ by the deities, child or the month in which child takes birth, in addition to it you cannot recognize which is the eighth child, I am explaining all these in favor of you.”  After saying so, Maharishi Narada left the palace.  Kamsa was deeply worried and perplexed arrived in the chamber of Devi Devaki and Vasudeva.  The five children were crawling on the floor and the sixth infant was on the cradle, he seized the children and killed them one by one before its parents mercilessly.  Devi Devaki and Vasudeva who were tried to hinder the heinous act were fastened with an iron chain and pushed them to prison. 


The Yadhus and Agneyas entered in a vicious battle,  Kamsa prompted his men to harass the Yadhavas to leave the city of Mathura.  Vasudeva advised Devi Rohini to take shelter in the house of Nandababa and Yasodha in Gokul.  King Ugrasena was imprisoned and Kamsa took over the ruling of the city of Mathura.  He destroyed all his enemies and haughtily ruled the city.  Kamsa had powerful men Pralamba, Thrinavarththa, Chanoora, and Baka. They continued to harass the clan of Yadhava, so they had to flee to Keykeya and Panchala Kingdoms.

Chapter – 152 – The legend of Lord Krishna – 6

The Supreme Lord Krishna/Karshayathi Krishna/captivating symbolizes Love and Wisdom, he is enchanting, spreading intense rays of brilliance and happiness, he is the source of brilliance for Lord Surya, Lord Chandra, and Lord Agni, in this way he resides as a soul in living beings too.  As long the supreme soul resides in the human body, it functions the way it wanted, once, it leaves out of the body through any of the nine gates, is declared as lifeless.  The incarnation of Lord Vishnu as Krishna teaches the supreme knowledge of ‘self-realization’.    The knowledge of self-realization provides humility, kindness, and knowledge of oneness- in all.



The Kingdom of Mathura was ruled by the Emperor Ugrasena.  Kamsa was the eldest son of the Emperor Ugrasena, who was extremely wicked and cruel, finding pleasure in depraved acts.  Ugrasena’s brother was Devaka had seven daughters; all these daughters were married to Vasudeva who was the son of King Shoorasena of Yadhu clan.  Thus, Devaka decided to perform the marriage of Devi Devaki, youngest daughter to Vasudeva.  The King Devaka determined to perform the marriage of Devi Devaki in a grand manner,  Kamsa offered his service and chariot for the marriage of his sister.  The marriage was taken place in great splendor, the chariot of Kamsa was decorated with the grand manner, Kamsa offered his service as a charioteer to his sister.  Thus, Devi Devaki and Vasudeva seated on the magnificent chariot driven by Kamsa, followed with the sounds of various divine musical instruments, preceded to the palace of Vasudeva.  Suddenly, the whole atmosphere of festivities has changed, the sky filled with dark clouds, Kamsa could hear a deafening voice from the sky “ Oh! Abudha,/Ignorant one, the eighth child of Devi Devaki would take away your life.” Kamsa turned pale, extremely raged, instantly he got out of the chariot and seized the hair of Devi Devaki, dragged her out of the chariot and pointed the sharp sword at her.  Immediately, Vasudeva jumped out the chariot and fallen at the feet of Kamsa with the folded hands requested “Oh! Kamsa, listen to me, you are King of Mathura, killing a woman will bring the sin of ‘Bhramahathya’, you should not ruin the name and fame of your clan, do not disgrace yourself by killing your own sister.  We are born with the wrap of death, and it’s inseparable from all the living beings, if you kill Devi Devaki your depraved deed will follow you and it would cause several births.  None of us could be freed from the results of our deeds like a worm move from one edge of the grass to another, takes several births and accumulates the sins and go through the cycles of birth and death. Oh! Kamsa, Kindly do not harm her; she did not do any harm to you.  Devi Devaki was always affectionate to you; it is sinful to kill affectionate people.”  Kamsa could not hear any of the kind words of Vasudeva, he ordered him to move away.   Soon Vasudeva realized that Kamsa will not heed to his words.  Kamsa is blind with anger and ignorance, therefore Vasudeva decided it is impossible to change the attitude of Kamsa, he began to think, and speak “ Oh! Kamsa, you have no threat from Devi Devaki, the voice echoed about the eighth child of Devi Devaki.  I shall promise, I will hand over the child who is a threat to your life.”  Thus Kamsa agreed to the promise of Vasudeva, thus the grand procession of the newly wedded couple has come to an end, turned to a mere silent march.   In due course of time, Devi Devaki pregnant with their first child and delivered the child, named   Keerthimantha.   Devi Devaki handed the newborn child born to Vasudeva with extreme grief,  Vasudeva took the child to the palace of Kamsa.   He kept the child at the feet of Kamsa, with tears overflowing.  Kamsa looked at the infant’s face; he could not kill the child looking at its innocence, so he asked Vasudeva to take away the child, as it was not the eighth child and not a threat for him.  Vasudeva was not quite sure about the happiness while regaining the life of the infant, because Kamsa is unpredictable.  Kamsa appreciated the truthfulness of Vasudeva.

The cow is one of the highly revered domesticated animals which consumes dried straw and grass, in return, it provides highly nutrients in the form of a diary, the cow dung is used as a powerful chemical that kills bacteria, cow dung and urine are abundantly used for fire sacrifices and various rites, therefore life on Earth exists due to the sacrificing nature of these animals.  In scriptures whenever mother Earth get anxious about the depraved nature of its living beings, she assumes the form of a cow and reveals her troubles to deities.  She is considered as the symbol of righteousness, hence the Rishis and Sages highly revered cow, it has become an essential part of their life to conduct various spiritual and religious rites, later it has become a custom to take care of them by the householders as well.  These are animals have a high level of consciousness to recognizes the natural calamities in first hand, even before humans.



Once, Mother Earth was concerned about the burden of immoral people of demonic nature.  Mother Earth assumed the form of a cow and approached Lord Bhrama, further Lord Bhrama and all the deities along with the Mother Earth appealed to Lord Vishnu/Purusha and eulogized him with the sacred chants of Purusha Suktha.  The deities could hear a divine voice “The supreme Lord Vishnu will manifest as the child of Vasudeva who is the son of King Shoorasena of the city of Mathura, and his wife Devi Devaki who is the daughter of Devaka/brother of Ugrasena.  Oh! Deities, make sure to be present for the assistance of him.  The Supreme Lord Vishnu will be followed by his sincere attendant Anantha with him as attentive as usual.  The powerful Maya of Lord Vishnu will play a major role in this incarnation of the Lord Vishnu.”  Mother Earth was highly pleased to know about the incarnation of Lord Vishnu on the Earth, she was mesmerized at the thought of supreme Lord as a child to perform various amusements on her field,  felt highly fortunate, further eagerly waited for the days to come and disappeared, eventually all the deities returned to their abodes.

The practice of realization of Bhramam through meditation, contemplation upon supreme Lord is considered as superior, the performance of any righteous deeds to fulfill one’s own desires is considered as inferior.

Pareekshith speaks “Oh! Mahamune, You have described the Soma and Surya dynasty in detail, later you have described the clan of Yadhu, and told that supreme Lord Hari was born in that clan of Yadhu, but you have not described the incarnation of the Supreme Lord who symbolizes Universe and its living beings, hence kindly describe the passionate sport of supreme Lord Hari who was incarnated Lord Krishna in the clan of Yadhu.  I cannot forget the grace of Lord Krishna who showered an abundance of mercy on us. He is highly revered by the ascetics and liberated souls who undergo strict austerities and observes celibacy.  The glorious myths of supreme Lord Krishna are Bhava Aushadha which removes all the incurable illness of worldly existence, it protects the soul from extreme fear, anxieties, depression, desolation, etc.  This is one and only kind of cure for the sufferings and miseries of worldly existence.  The Supreme Lord Krishna has performed the task of a ferry to our ancestors who were battling against the powerful water current of the river crammed with giant whales like Bhishma Pithamaha and Kauravas.  He elevated the souls of my ancestors from distress and extreme grief and safely boarded them on the shore.  How can I forget the mercy of Supreme Lord Krishna? He protected me while I was in the mother’s womb, while the Pandavas were distraught of lack of children to please the ancestors; I was the only solace in the womb of Devi Uththara.   The wicked son of Dronacharya shot a powerful arrow of Bhramasthra aiming at my mother’s womb.  My mother rushed to Lord Krishna and took shelter at his lotus feet.  He assumed thumb size and entered in my mother’s womb and protected the fetus with the powerful weapon disc.  How can I forget all these?  In this way, the supreme Lord Krishna who is Purusha resides as a soul in living beings has performed numerous passionate sports on the Earth.  Therefore kindly describe all those in detail. ”



Pareekshith speaks “Oh! Mahamune, you have once told Balarama is the son of Rohini, and later you have explained him as the son of Devaki as well.  How is that possible?   Why did Krishna left Devi Devaki and Vasudeva immediately after birth and lived as an adopted child of Devi Yashodha and Nandababa?  Why Krishna did kill his uncle Kamsa?  How long did he perform pastimes on the Earth? What were that passionate sports? How many wives he had?  Oh! Sarvajja, you are aware of all, therefore kindly narrate the nectar-like myths of supreme Lord Hari.”



It was almost four days, King Pareekshith who was seated on the banks of river Ganga along with illustrious Sages Parashara, Maharishi Vedavyasa, and Rishis before Rishi Shuka Bramham, seated on a raised platform of the preceptor.  Pareekshith has not moved from his seat for the past four days now when Shuka Bhramam advises taking a break for a while, Pareekshith gracefully reveals that he is neither tired of neither hunger nor thirst.  Shuka Bhramam speaks “ Oh! Rajarshi, your mind, and intellect is completely drenched in the legend of Vasudeva,/Sarvabhoodhadhivasa, whoever listens to the glorious myths of Vasudeva gets purified as a dip in the sacred river Ganga.  It purifies the speaker, listener and the individuals who make it possible to listens to others.  You are fortunate to listen to the various amusements of supreme Lord Krishna.  Oh! Rajarshi, I shall narrate the various passionate sports of Lord Krishna.”

The legend of Lord Krishna describes the core spirit of life,  ability to face any adverse situation in life with serenity and consider them as the grace of the Supreme Lord, oneness-in all/presence of the Supreme Lord as a soul in living beings, dispassionate to material matters and bondage, live without any expectation, sharing and caring, and constantly engages in Karma/performance of one’s own duties and responsibilities without expecting its results. 



The Supreme Lord Krishna symbolizes love and compassion.  In all through his life, he showered unconditional love towards the cowherds, young maiden of cowherds, people of Vraja, and his ardent devotees like Sudhama, Draupadi and Devi Kunthi and many more.  The love of young maiden of cowherds was unexplainable nature, they forgot themselves in the love for this marvelous child of Yashomathi and  Nandhababa, their mind and intellect were completely soaked in the pure love for Krishna.   They were ever willing to sacrifice anything for the nearness of him.  He spread endless rays of happiness all through the Vraja.  He symbolizes ‘Kindness’, he elevated even the worst of the sinners who were surrendered at his lotus feet.  The first female demon Poothana was appointed to kill Krishna while he was a baby by his uncle Kamsa.   He shut his eyes before her, if he opens eyes, Poothana may leave her beautiful appearance due to the influence of his Maya and that would cause chaos in the Gokul. Otherwise, he may shower compassion upon her without his own knowledge. finally, Poothana fed him with poisoned bosom milk, he squeezed the life out of her and offered liberation, he considered the female demon Poothana who fed her bosom milk as equivalent to his dearest mother Yashomathi, a woman equivalent to mother should deserve to be sent off with honor.  Therefore, the funeral pyre of Poothana has emitted the fragrance of sandalwood.  Shishupala who poured several waves of abuse in the assembly of King Yudhishtira where the grand Yagna of Rajasooya was taken place, Lord Krishna patiently waited to complete the promise given to the mother of Shishupala, ultimately sieved off his head with the powerful disc and liberated him.  Lord Krishna gracefully received the ten thousand females imprisoned by Baumasura, he gave shelter as well as an honor as his wife, took great care of them and elevated their souls.  



Lord Krishna symbolizes 'kindness', while he was ruling the city of Dwaraka, his old school mate ‘Sudhama’ a poor Bhramin makes a visit to see him was received with extreme joy, innocent Sudhama who has no expectation other than to meet his old school friend, was received with great honor, his blood-stained legs were washed with the tears of Krishna, seeing his pathetic state after walking several hours through the rough pathways.  In the Rajasooya Yagna of Yudhishtira, everyone was assigned with decent work, but he employed himself in washing the feet of visitors and clearing up the leaves after meals.  In this way, he has proven the knowledge of Bhramam /realization of oneness in all and the sense of humility are essential qualities in the path of righteousness.

The Supreme Lord Krishna was born as the son of Devi Devaki and Vasudeva, in the same night of his birth,  he had to be with the adopted parents Devi Yashomathi and Nandababa, he had never complained about his life.   He had to leave the Gokul where he was brought on the first night of birth, he encountered Poothana and various demons had to leave the village in a one fine day, he was not unhappy.  He happily lived in Vrindavan, grazing goats and cows, playing numerous passionate sports with the cowherds and beautiful young maiden of cowherds who vested their lives in supreme Lord Krishna.  He elevated the souls of cowherds and young maiden with the supreme knowledge of the oneness of the soul and spreading extreme happiness to them.  He performed ‘Maharas’  with the beautiful women of cowherds when they believed the little Krishna is all over their beauty, he disappeared, later they regretted over their foolishness, once again he appeared before them and made them happy.   In this way, he proved to them that he is dispassionate and has no attachment to anyone.  All of a sudden he had to move to Mathura with Akroora to encounter his wicked uncle Kamsa.    He killed the haughty wrestlers, Mushtika and Chanoora, and the elephant Kuvalayapeedam, ultimately his uncle Kamsa.   He lived with parents Devi Devaki and Vasudeva and went to learn under the guidance of Maharishi Sandheepani, shortly he had to flee to Dwaraka where he lived with sixteen thousand and eight wives and had several children, finally he had to witness the destruction of his own clan before his eyes, he was neither distressed nor attached or had no expectations. 



The intellectuals and liberated souls who consider all the happenings in life with a balanced state of mind, be it sorrow or happiness receive them as the grace of supreme Lord, they never keep any expectation or attachment from people or material matters.  The supreme Lord lived a hundred and twenty-five years on the Earth, during this period he prompted his devotees to constantly engage in Karma, performing duties and responsibilities without expecting its fruitful results. The human intellect and mind have endless capabilities to excel in all fields of knowledge. The Supreme Lord Krishna proved it by learning sixty-four types of art forms within sixty-four days; he excelled in all fields of knowledge.  He proved as an exceptional charioteer to Arjun, he proved himself as an ideal husband to sixteen thousand and eight wives.   Maharishi Narada surprised to witness the presence of the Supreme Lord Krishna and his services to all these sixteen thousand and eight wives in their homes. Before leaving this Earth, he gives the nectar-like advice to Udhdhava and Rishi Maitreya, and even the hunter who feels extremely guilty of his mistake was pacified and elevated his soul.

The human intellect and the mind cannot be freed from thoughts like the body undergoes aging, the process blood circulation, constant death and birth of blood cells, the process of inhalation and exhalation, ultimately it has to ruin.   If the mind and intellect are not utilized wisely, it may wander through the unwanted areas of life, people, things, and thereby undergoes extreme grief and fear of anxiety.   It can be wedged to pure thoughts as well as impure thoughts.   The pure thoughts are selflessness, compassion, serenity, honesty, dedication, kindness, and knowledge of oneness in all.  The impure thoughts are the excessive desire for accumulation of wealth and possession of material things, the constant search for sensual pleasure,  jealousy, pride, wickedness, selfishness, lust, attachment to people, wealth and fame.  Therefore the human thoughts can either elevate the soul into a state of bliss, or it can heave into extreme darkness of ignorance as well.   The attachment to material matters and bondage would cause repeated births, dispassionate to the worldly matters and people would elevate the soul to the state of bliss.  The constant practice of being dispassionate to people, material affairs would raise the soul to Paramampadham/eternal bliss.  



The legend of Lord Krishna teaches the difference of Intellect /Gnana and Wisdom/Vignana, the capability to respond to the situation accurately, pleasantness, extreme kindness, compassion, care, love,  etc.  In his whole life, Lord Krishna never shed tears of grief or distress, instead, he shed tears of joy and compassion after witnessing the pure love and devotion of his devotees like Sudhama and people of Vraja.  He shed tears in childhood to make his mother believe her ultimate authority upon her child who is absolute Bhramam, thereby extended happiness to his devoted mother Yashomathi.  He elevated the soul of Arjuna who was distressed and prepared to run away from the greatest battle of Kurukshetra.   He advised the essence Bhagavad Gita to Arjun and instructed him to follow his duties, ultimately gave away all the appreciation of the victory in the battle.  Devi Kunthi who had lost her elder son who was killed by her another son on the battlefield, she had lost all her grandchildren, her sons and daughter-in-law had to undergo endless troubles all through their lives, she is praising  Krishna and furthermore requesting him to give constant troubles so that she would contemplate upon the pleasing Lord Krishna.  The Supreme Lord Krishna is beyond virtues, he is dispassionate and unblemished.  In this way, Lord Krishna lived his entire life with serenity even though he had to encounter limitless obstacles, he elevated the souls who are surrendered to him.
